At the Johnson Family Home, Dad stood in the living room holding The Letter. It was official. Stamped. Signed by the principal. Embossed in dramatic red ink like it was from a secret government agency.
It read:
“To the parents of Jamie and Max Johnson, your children have turned school into a prank circus. Please be advised that they prank each other more than they study.”
Dad’s eyebrow twitched.
Max gulped.
Jamie pretended to examine the ceiling.
“YOU’RE BOTH GROUNDED!” Dad thundered.
“BUT—” Jamie started.
“I WAS DEFENDING MYSELF—” Max tried.
“NOPE,” Dad interrupted. “Both of you, No phones. No prank supplies. And NO LOOKING SUSPICIOUS!”
As they sulked on the couch like two deflated balloons, Lilly walked by, clutching her teddy bear and sipping chocolate milk like a queen.
She stopped. Looked at the two grounded disasters.
And then… she laughed.
“You two are the worst. Even my teddy has better behavior.”
Jamie and Max looked at each other.
Then at Lilly.
Then THEY ATTACKED.
Max threw a pillow.
Jamie sprayed glitter.
Lilly screamed, “MOMMMMMMM!”
