Bella beamed as she tore the wrapping paper off her birthday present. A brand-new, shiny laptop! Her dad smiled proudly.
“I knew you’d love it,” he said.
He was right. Bella spent the entire day exploring her new gift—playing games, drawing pictures, and watching funny videos. Her parents didn’t mind; it was her birthday, after all.
But one afternoon, while Bella was playing a colorful dragon adventure game, something strange happened.
The screen shimmered. Sparkled. Then—POOF!
A small dragon with shiny green scales and stubby wings popped out of the screen and tumbled onto Bella’s bed.
“AAAAAHHH!” Bella screamed.
“AAAAAHHH!” the dragon screamed back.
They both paused.
“Shhh!” they said at the same time.
The dragon blinked. “Sorry! I’m Bippy. I jumped too hard and fell out of the game! I only have five hours before I go swoosh—back into my world. Until then, I can’t be seen by any humans!”
Bella’s eyes sparkled. “This is awesome! Don’t worry, Bippy. I’ll help you stay hidden.”
But hiding a bouncy little dragon wasn’t easy.
At lunchtime, Bella tucked Bippy under the table. He whispered, “Smells good! What’s that?”
“Chicken curry,” Bella whispered. “Now hush.”
Suddenly—WHACK!
Bippy’s tail swung out and smacked her little brother Ben in the shin.
“Ow!” Ben yelped and tumbled to the floor.
Dad peeked under the table and spotted a glint of green scales.
“What’s that under there?” he asked.
Bella’s heart thudded. “Oh! That’s just my… uh… old plush toy! It moves around on its own sometimes.”
Dad raised an eyebrow. “Right. One of those… fancy moving plushies?”
“Exactly!” Bella grinned. “Very fancy. Very rare.”
Dad shrugged and went back to eating.
Later that night, Bella made a cozy spot for Bippy under her bed. But dragons don’t sleep like humans. Bippy kept twisting, turning, and puffing little smoke clouds from his nose.
The bed shook. Bella groaned. “Bippy, stop moving!”
“I’m trying! But your floor is so flat!” he complained.
Finally, the clock blinked: 11:23 PM.
“That’s it,” Bippy said. “Time to go back.”
He leapt up to the laptop—but in the dark, he landed on the wrong one.
Ben’s laptop.
Bippy vanished into the screen just as Bella turned on her lamp.
“Wait—NO! That’s not—!”
Too late.
The next morning, Ben opened his laptop to play games… and there, staring at him with wide dragon eyes, was Bippy.
“AAAAAAAAHHH!” Bippy shrieked.
“AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!” Ben shrieked louder.
Bella rushed in, already laughing.
“Looks like Bippy found a new roommate!”
The End.
