The Sleepover Plan

Kate scrolled lazily through her phone, ignoring the noise of her two best friends bickering beside her. Emily’s arms were flailing dramatically while Hannah grinned like she’d just discovered a hidden treasure.

“I’m telling you,” Emily insisted, “watermelon-flavored ice cream is fake. Nobody makes that. It’s a myth.”

Hannah gasped like Emily had just insulted her entire family. “Oh please, it exists! I saw it on TV once. If pickle-flavored chips exist, then watermelon ice cream definitely does.”

Kate groaned, lowering her phone. “Would you two just shut up about frozen fruit for one second?”

Her timing couldn’t have been worse. She turned to glare at them and accidentally stepped right on Emily’s foot.

“OUCH! Kate!” Emily yelped, hopping on one leg.

Kate covered her mouth, trying not to laugh, but Hannah wasn’t about to let her off the hook. She smirked and muttered, “Well, at least Emily now knows what a real crushed watermelon feels like.”

Kate burst into laughter. Emily folded her arms, glaring. “Ha-ha. Hilarious.”

Hannah, still grinning, suddenly bounced on the couch. “You know what we should do? Have a sleepover! Tonight!”

Kate and Emily exchanged looks.

“That… actually doesn’t sound bad,” Kate admitted.

“Yeah, but only if our moms say yes,” Emily reminded her.

So, with all the courage of three detectives about to face the scariest mission ever, they marched to their mothers. They stood shoulder to shoulder, widened their eyes, and unleashed the most powerful weapon known to kids everywhere: puppy-dog faces.

“Pleaseee?” they chimed in unison.

To their shock, the moms didn’t sigh, or say “We’ll see,” or launch into boring lectures about homework. Instead, each one smiled and nodded.

“Fine,” Kate’s mom said.
“Sure,” Emily’s mom agreed.
“Of course,” Hannah’s mom added.

The three girls blinked, stunned.

“Wait… seriously?” Kate asked.

“Don’t make us change our minds,” Emily’s mom warned playfully.

The girls squealed and ran back to Kate’s room, already chattering about popcorn, scary movies, and who was bringing the chips.

It was official: tonight was sleepover night.
